HOW WE DETECT LEAKS

There are many different leak detection methods.  Every situation is unique.  We will assess each situation and apply the best detection method or a combination of methods based on our knowledge and experience.

Below are some of the things we use.

Acoustic listening - Any water escaping from a pipe will make a noise.  Our state of the art equipment is designed to listen for this specific type of noise, while simultaneously blocking out other environmental noises.  This method is great for leak detection in walls and floors.

Tracer Gas - This is one of our most effective and commonly used method of Leak detection.  We will inject a completely safe, inert and food grade gas into the suspected pipe.  We then use specialist machines which can then detect the escaping gas.  This method of leak detection is great for both water supply leaks as well as leaks in your heating system.  Especially leaks underground.

Thermal Imaging - We use high resolution thermal imaging.  This allows us to trace pipe runs in walls, ceilings and floors.  This can be very effective method of leak detection in hot water pipes and heating circuits.

Borescope Cameras - Being able to look behind panels and inside walls is a common requirement of leak detection.  Our cameras allow us to utilise existing holes and cracks there may be to get a better view when needed.  Sometimes we will need to make a tiny hole (Always with your prior consent) if we feel there is no other option and all other methods of leak detection have been exhausted.

Operative - By far, the most important element of a successful leak detection is the operative.  Our knowledge and decades of experience lets us assess the situation and work in a methodical manner.  We will always aim to cause the least disruption as possible.
